Discovering Baby-led Weaning explores BLW through the experiences of parents who
have tried it.They tell us why they decided to do it, what it has given them and their baby,
and how they have coped with explaining it to others.
At six months, most babies are keen to grab anything that Interests them and test it out
using their mouths. They are beginning to be able to chew and they want to copy those
around them. So, provided the food you eat is healthy, the most logical way to introduce
your baby to solid foods is to sit them up to the table with you and let them do it
themselves. This is baby-led weaning.
Baby-led weaning (BLW) uses babies’ naturally-developed skills and curiosity. It allows
them to make a gentle, safe transition to family food at their own pace, learning as they go.
Forget purées and spoon feeding, fussy eaters and mealtime battles, and find out how to
make eating together easy and fun for the whole family!
Discovering Baby-led Weaning introduces us to a small group of parents who have
followed BLW with their babies. They explain why they chose it, how it works - and why
they wouldn’t do it any other way.
The book referred to by some of the parents in this DVD is:
